It might be difficult to prove a connection without a location or father's name but there's a  Co. Donegal baptism that is quite close to the year you mention on the Irish Family History Foundation pay-website at www.irish-roots.ie :

 Church Baptism    Alexander Elliott    1845    

 Parish is Letterkenny, Presbyterian

The site changes €5 to view each transcript.  There are a few other Alexander  Elliot baptisms listed but this is the closest match that I see. note : they do not hold records for every county.
