John McGill death

Hi wenzisme - I'm checking into my family re: George Redhead and Jane McGill (I'm new to Roots so bare with me please, till I get the hang of it!).  My info through living family in New Zealand is that George met his wife in England, she is probably Jane McGill from Ayrshire, and they travelled to New Zealend and married 1866 (I don't have the certificte yet).  George died (drowning - ship wreck) 1890 age 41.  Jane and he had, as far as  we know, six children, although not all lived beyong childhood.  They went to NZ to farm near Timaru, south island.  Their descendents are still there, and I have contact with them.  I hope to take this further, but can't find anything yet about george's ancestors.
