I think this attachment should tie together many of the threads in this forum and answer several questions including yours, Chesapek, about Robert Vance and Elizabeth Peden.

What would be REALLY interesting is a DNA test on one of the living male Vances - that would show us how these Vances fit into the bigger picture of the various Vance families that exist - see http://www.vancegenealogy.com/index.php.

Regards,
Jamie.

DNA Tests cost a lot of money and tell you nothing.

You are, of course, entitled to that opinion. Many of us, in the Vans/Vance families, have found the results extremely interesting.

Hello folks
I am doing my family history at the minute - my grandmother was Carson and her sister, Mary Ann married Vance from Harthill and had two sons, Eric and Ross.  My husband and I visited Ross and his wife when in Scotland in 1973/4.  I have photos of the Vance/Carson family and would love to send copies of them on and details of the family history.  The Carsons were from County Antrim.
Regards May K

Thanks, May. My interest is solely in the Vances; I'm happy to share my info with you if you want.
Jamie.

Robert (b. 1854), Elizabeth (b. 1859) and Robert Vance (b. 1880) from Ireland (although Robert Jnr was born in West Calder) were living with my Great, Great, Great Grandparents John (1836-1908) and Catherine (1831-1905) at 5 Tay Street, West Calder according to the 1881 Scotland Census.  I'm interested to know if this Vance family are connected to my ancestors and if so, how.  I have family history information going back to the early 1800's, so feel free to contact me with any questions or information.

Thanks

Andrew

It must be this family, I think.

You're welcome. Can you add anything to that? Do you know of any male Vances from that line who might be persuaded to take a DNA test?

Jamie.
