Maxwell family
« on: Thursday 08 August 13 18:56 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I have started doing my wife's genealogy and have hit a brick wall on finding her ancestor
William Maxwells parents. William Maxwell was married to Martha Dallas/Dallis/Daules in Bathgate West Lothian on 28 Mar. 1864. I have found their marriage record and children on Familysearch
But am unable to pin down when or where William and Martha were born.

Their Son, my wife's ancestor was George Niven Maxwell and he was born 15 May 1874 in Torpichen.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Have you looked at William and Martha's marriage certificate on Scotland's People?
The original cert. should provide you with both bride and groom's parents names.

Looby  :)

Added- Should also have ages of William and Martha recorded which will give you a better idea of their D.O.B's.

Hi Looby,
I try to use pay sites to the minimum, I have wasted some money on following false leads.
I will use it as a last resort if I have to.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi JJ,
Now why did I not see that when I Looked  :o Once again you have come to the rescue!
I guess I shouldn't research 4 or 5 families at the same time.

Hello Chris,

Woodbank Cemetery, Torphichen
George Maxwell, Westriggs, died 19/11/1946 aged 73 years. He is the only one buried in the lair.

There are 12 Maxwell burials in Woodbank. Willing to type up if they will be of help. Woodbank burials are dated between 1899 and 1945.

Hello Mags,
This well could be a relative of my wife's family. Her great Grandfather was George Niven Maxwell
B.1875 d.1950, he died in Cumberland, British Columbia, Canada and most of his relatives remained in Scotland and England. It would be wonderful if you transcribed those graves, it might give me more leads.
Many thanks,
Chris
