Hi Chris,

That's a possibility but she hasn't finalised her dates yet so we'll have to wait and see.

Mary.

Hi Chris,

I'd be interested in coming over in 2007- from Shropshire. Might bring husband and two recalcitrant children. Might go it alone though as husband is too interested in Guinness and may not be able to keep the kids amused!

Tracey.

Hiya Happy Easter Tracey,

Great to hear from you. Cead Mille Failte. One hundred thousand Welcomes. Welcome to the Irish thread on the Lighter Side. May we put you down for a provisional group of four at the moment ??? Sure now there are all sorts of exciting things to do in Dublin. Your kids will have a whale of a time and when they go back fo school for the new term they will have a lot to tell their mates about the quare time they had in the land of Saints and Scholars.

We look forward to seeing you all next year.

All the Best, Chris

I'm looking forward to it too. I have always wanted to come to Ireland but the Greek islands have held a bigger attraction (i.e the sun) in previous years.

Hi Chris,

The logistics of trying to organise a one day meet in Dublin before the summer would be a nightmare.  However there is no reason at all why some of us could not get together occasionally.

Getting a few fellow Genealogists together would be as easy as making a date for a meal or whatever.

Hiya Mary ,

I know there are a few fellow genealogists in the Belfast and Co. Down area.
I have not a clue how many there are in the Dublin area. It is disgraceful. The City is almost the size of the north of Ireland. The only Dublin member appears to be Mo (Moscan). I don't believe it. A population in the region of 1.300,000 and only one person searching for their ancestors. If Rootschaters stated their location we might find a few more. Why are so many not stating their locations ??? Their ancestors may have been convicts..surely they are not convicts too :D

I got quite carried away there for a minute. I nearly signed with an X imagining I was an illiterate nineteenth Irish peasant. :D

Chris.

Hi Chris,

I sure agree with you that there should surely be plenty of people searching.  Might it be possible that they are beginners and as such are a bit intimidated???

So all you Irish Rootschatters come on....crawl out of the woodwork and if you are unsure we'll all hold out the hand of friendship and try to help you in any way we can.  Just remember we were all rookies once and the only way any of us have learned was by ploughing through records and asking....even begging sometimes, for help.

This meet in 2007 could be a really good get together but it will need to be well planned as otherwise Chris will not know what size venue we'll need.

I hope this will motivate you all to at the very least show yourselves.

Mary.
