Hi

Does any one have the ability to look up two newspaper articles for me. They are Sheffield Independent 20 Oct 1866 under Wakefield Quarter Sessions and Huddersfield Chronicle 23 Oct 1886 under West Riding Quarter Sessions. I am looking for details on the charging and sentencing of one John William Cliffe 51 a sawyer.

The Huddersfield Chronicle and West Yorkshire Advertiser, October 23 1886

John William Cliffe 51 Sawyer, committed for stealing two brass candlesticks, value 1s 6d, property of John Oldfield, Huddersfield on 13th Oct. Sentenced to five years penal servitude and five years police supervision.

The Sheffield & Rotherham Independent October 20, 1886 (I presume this is the year rather than 1866 as posted  )

The article reports on the same crime as above with this addition -

Also with fraudulently converting for his own use as a bailee, two portraits, property of Bland Wolfenden at Huddersfield. The prisoner who had served long terms of imprisonment, and had been twice sent to penal servitude, was now sentenced to five years penal servitude to be followed by five years police supervision.
