I am a Patrick descendant and am pretty sure that Robert Patrick (mason) and Jean Shedden of Newstreet, Beith are my ancestors via their son Robert (d.o.b. 5th June 1765) who married Margaret Dick from Lochwinnoch on 13th May 1792. Is there anyone interested in sharing information/discussing this Patrick line in more detail with me?

I am also a Patrick descendant [living in NZ] and have researched & written the history of the Patrick family descending from Robert Patrick [of Drumbuie Farm] & Jean Sheddan via their son James Patrick b. 3 Apr 1757 & Mary Howie.

I would be thrilled to hear from you 'laundry' and share any ancestral information you might have that can connect our ancestors.
Look forward to hearing from you
Paddy

Hello Paddy,
I am very pleased that you replied today. I have been working backwards (as they say you should) and hope with some help that I can fill in some gaps and be more certain of a couple of Patrick forebears. I am presently at a public library without my notes but will try to reply in more detail tonight so we can check if we're on the same tree.
This is very good news for me as I have been looking for quite a while for descendants of Patricks from Beith, and hadn't had so much as a glimmer of hope of finding another interested descendant until today.
Helen

Generation 1
George Patrick (my grandfather) b. 15 Sep 1891 Barrhead, Renfrewshire, Scotland; d. 8 Jan 1971 Hawthorn, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; m. Eda Jessamine Cox, 28 Mar 1922 Canterbury, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Generation 2
William Patrick b. 13 Dec 1854 Neilston, Renfrewshire, Scotland; d. 27 Jan 1924 Canterbury, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; m. Agnes Paterson, 31 Jul 1885 Barrhead, Renfrewshire, Scotland.
Generation 3
William Patrick b. 18 Dec 1825 Neilston, Renfrewshire, Scotland; d. unknown; m. Mary Thomson 6 Jun 1851 Riccarton, Renfrewshire, Scotland.
Generation 4
William Patrick b. 19 Jun 1796  Beith, Ayrshire;  d. 17 Apr 1874 Neilston, Renfrewshire, Scotland; m. Agnes Gibson 10 Jul 1819 Parish of Houston & Killellan, Renfrewshire, Scotland.
Generation 5
Robert Patrick b. ??  d. ? m. Margaret Dick 20 May 1792 Beith, Ayrshire.
This is where I have to speculate a little. The marriage details for Robert Patrick and Margaret Dick indicate that Robert is a mason from Newstreet, Beith.
The OPR’s list a Robert Patrick born to Jean Sheddan  and Robert Patrick, mason, in Newstreet, Beith  on 5 Jun 1765. I think this is probably Robert Patrick from “Generation 5” but I can’t be 100% sure. I’m interested to hear what you think. I have other details about siblings etc. but I’ll have to leave that for another session.

Hello,

Might be a long shot here but has anyone gone further back or can help with the earliest recorded name in Beith Parish, John Patrick of 1492?  There are 3 of us in the US from different lines under Robert Patrick 1705 that would like to trace back to this region and if possible, how our family migrated here, etc. We have reason to believe that some of the data from Dr. Wellington Patrick may have been in error.  We are working to clean our tree's up.  Please contact me anytime at jim331967@gmail.com.  Any direction would be appreciated or if you just want to say hi!
Thanks!!
James Patrick
