Hi there

Well, a common problem especially that far back. The parish records you are using which are copies of the original registers are the best source, family trees compiled by others may have assumptions and both the ones you have included appear to do that. In both trees the assumptions are logical ones to make which doesn't help to narrow down which father is Benedict's / Bennet's!

I can't see a baptism for Benedict / Bennet in the Wendron registers on familysearch or on Cornwall OPC, so it's possible it just wasn't recorded. I try and trace any potential families through the years looking for any clues which might rule them in or out e.g. name association, wills etc. Have you managed to do that with Benedict / Bennet's children and their children etc?

Bennet married Johanna Thomas in 1604/5 children baptised Wendron include Thomas, Henricus, Maria x 2, Radolphus and Gracia so no immediate clues there.

There is a marriage recorded in 1574 Robt Treloar and Alice John and the couple appear to be baptising children around the right time including Richardus, Johones, Stephanus, Agneta, Artharus. Wearnius. Are there any clues in Robert & Alice's children's lines?
