Hi
I think you have to make 3 posts before you can send a PM on this forum.
Then you simply click on the persons name (to the left of the post) and you get details of their profile and at the bottom of the page you get the option of sending a PM.
So you better ask me a couple of questions.
Regards

Hello, Iam Lucinda's son.
Lucinda lived in Vantleek Hill for a few years back in the 60's before moving back to Mattawa where she died in the early 90's.
Can you advise who you are? ....John

Hi John,
I am a distant relative of Lucinda through our common ancestor John Noddings of Seapatrick. Can I help you in your family search?
Alex

John   NODDINGS    .    Seapatrick    regd. Banbridge; husband of Sarah Brown ; father of Mary Anne b. 22 Mar 1866 & Alexander b. 15 Apr 1868 & male child b. 18 Nov 1870   CR is the only entry in Ros Davies Co Down website. Has the most detailedmarriage certificate been found

On Genes Reunited website http://www.GenesReunited.co.uk the Noddings have records from 1526 in North Yorkshire which spread gradually into other northern English counties, then come much later the first irish birth years
1839   Banbridge ...
1846   Belfast County Antri...
1853   Seapatrick ...
1853   Lisburn County Antri...
1853   Banbridge County Dow...
1854   Lisburn County Antri...
1856   Lisburn County Antri...
1868   Lisburn County Antri...
1868   Banbridge County Dow...
1868   Seapatrick, Co Down ...
etc etc I note that where a birth is recorded is sometimes a district etc
However if you want to see more detail you would need to join Genes Reunited
A Christopher Noddings a flax dresser is in the Belfast St directory 1852 at No23....
The Noddings were signing up in the military from Seapatrick from 1870 Noddings have The Noddings in the irish census 1901 numbered 25 all living with Banbridge. That is unusual
The Noddings have been migrating from Londonderry since 1906 or earlier
There are living Noddings in Banbridge
It is a rare name not listed in the Oxford Names companion
Good luck to you all JimG

John Noddings d 1880 and Sarah Brown d 1904 had 12 children from the eldest William John Noddings my g-grandfather born 1852 and the youngest Thomas Noddings as you stated born 18th Nov 1870. Thomas was a heavily tattood man who joined the the Gordon Highlanders and fought at the Battle of Dargai in 1897. He was wounded in the battle and was discharged from the army.He lived in Glasgow for sometime but eventually moved to Canada and died there in about 1940. Most of the others from this large family either moved to Belfast, Scotland or America. As far as I know only my 3rd cousin remains in Banbridge.
John Noddings was th eldest son of Christopher Noddings 1798-1858.

just to add to this, a close neighbour of ours was a William (Bill) Noddings originally from Seapatrick, Banbridge. The family lived beside the old Mullafernaghan railway station.

Bill now deceased, there are two daughters living in the Banbridge area.

Hi,
I met his widow Peggy (nee Jardine) and one of his daughters when my wife and I visited Banbridge a few years ago; we still exchange Christmas cards. I believe that Bill died in 1985.

Hi John,
I wonder if you can give me information on the parents of Lucinda for my Irish Noddings family tree.
