Just to update you Cati.

I keyed in the artists name into google last night. Lo n behold first thing I clicked on showed the painting in all it's glory! Hubby was well pleased.

He phoned the bereavement no we'd been given regarding where he's burried. Girl was most helpful. She wants us to provide info we already have for the History Society. She gave us plot no for grave and we've found it this afternoon. A magnificent one at that!

She is also going to try and locate the painting for us.

They've actually spelt his surname as Saller not Salter! Hubby has written to bbc offering info etc so they should see the spelling mistake.

I see he was a County Councillor as well.
