URQUHART/MCLEOD-Assynt Sutherland

I have details of an ISOBEL URQUHART  married abt 1794 to a JOHN MCLEOD both born abt 1778 Assynt, Sutherland
I believe they had a child John also, born 16 Jun 1811 Assynt, Sutherland

I dont know if these dates are correct and would like to find out more about them and the previous generation if possible.

What is the source of that potential 1794 marriage date for Isobel and John?

It is just that the son's entry that you mention shows as John MC LEOD or URQUHART on the IGI index from the OPRs. This would normally imply that the parents were not married perhaps.

Yes a good point - where did I get that information - unsure at this point so best disregard.
I had printed out the familysearch.org John McLeod Or Urquhart 16 Jun 1811 Assynt Sutherland Birth/Baptism record and thats what prompted me to post the request.

I have not been able to find or at least make any connections to any parents for the father John McLeod or the mother Isobel Urquhart both born abt 1778 either

Really hard at this time to try and trace back parents without further info 

The entry that you have found on familysearch is an actual extract from the Old Parish Registers and is available to view/download on the pay to view site www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Very often, OPR entries have very little info but sometimes there was additional info that can help. Unfortunately, until you look, you won't know what is on the register as this is all pre the start of official registration from 1855.

Have you followed through son John to see what was noted about his parents on perhaps his death entry?
