SP is Scotlands People at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ It's the official pay to view BMD and Census site for Scottish Records. It also includes indexes for the Old Parish Registers (OPRs) pre 1855.

Before venturing down that route, have a look at these two links here on RootsChat to help you understand firstly, what's available and secondly, how to maximise your use of Scotlands People:

Hello Everyone,
After a few house moves I lost track of the McKenzie research I received around 1990 from my father-in-law on Archibald and Catherine's family.  I just rediscovered it and wanted to share it my fellow researchers. The research was conducted by Thomas MacKenzie Warren, a professor at the University of British Columbia in the 1970s and 1980s.  There are a few nice articles on Professor Warren who was also President of the Kamloops Family History Society.

I should mention that this is NOT the Archibald McKenzie and Catherine McKinnon from Barra, rather this Archibald is the son of Neil Mackenzie and Mary MacLean of Isle of Mull and his Catherine was born on PEI; her ancestors came from Isle of Mull.

Archibald Mackenzie was Born Feb 25, 1798 in Grishipool Bay, Isle Coll, Scotland.  He first married Mary MacKenzie, Baptized Nov 16 1793 at Gortan, Isle of Coll, Scotland.  Mary died at an early age. Archibald taught school on the Isle Rum before taking the ship Economy of Aberdeen from
Tobermory to Nova Scotia in 1819 (http://www.collmagazine.co.uk/article.php?ID=184). He was School Master at Pictou and for 38 years was Provincial Magistrate for PEI Lot 65.  He died Dec 7 1872.

Archibald married Catherine McKinnon, born March 24, 1808, PEI on June 12, 1835, a descendent of the McKinnons of Isle of Mull, Scotland.  She died in 1897.

Children are:
1. Lauchlin McKenzie    Born May 18  1836  PEI  Died July 22 1910  Buried: Canoe Cove Cemetery
Married Mary Jane McKinnon of Rocky Point.  Farmed at St. Catherine's PEI.
   Children:  Catherine (Kate)

2. Neil Seaforth McKenzie Born Jan 1 1838  PEI    Died Jan 12 1912  Buried Long Creek Cemetery
Married Flora McPhee.  Lived at Green Grove Farm
    Children: Winnifred, High, and Neil

3. Duncan(?) McKenzie
Thought to be one of the sons who died at an early age.  Died before second Duncan was born.

4. Duncan McKenzie   Born: Spring 1840 Died October 11 1875 Truckee, CA of Typhoid
A civil engineer.  Died working for the Central Pacific Railroad on the Donner Pass showsheds.
Married Laura Ann Horner 03 Jun 1862 Woburn MA  She was previously married to -?- Penney.
Child:  Hector Silas Dec 20 1863 Cape Breton, PEI

5. Hector McKenzie  Born Sept 1 1843 PEI  Baptized June 15 1844 by Rev LC Jenkins Died Aug 6 1860
An exceptionally bright student, was to have begun teaching school the day he died shortly before his 17th birthday.

6. Charles McKenzie  ?
    Died early

7. Mary Ann McKenzie  B 1846 PEI  Never Married  Died Oct 30 1918
Was a nurse in Charlottetown for many years.  In 1918 she went to a community to attend victims of the influenza epidemic and died while helping others.
