Hello Everyone,
After a few house moves I lost track of the McKenzie research I received around 1990 from my father-in-law on Archibald and Catherine's family. I just rediscovered it and wanted to share it my fellow researchers. The research was conducted by Thomas MacKenzie Warren, a professor at the University of British Columbia in the 1970s and 1980s. There are a few nice articles on Professor Warren who was also President of the Kamloops Family History Society.
I should mention that this is NOT the Archibald McKenzie and Catherine McKinnon from Barra, rather this Archibald is the son of Neil Mackenzie and Mary MacLean of Isle of Mull and his Catherine was born on PEI; her ancestors came from Isle of Mull.
Archibald Mackenzie was Born Feb 25, 1798 in Grishipool Bay, Isle Coll, Scotland. He first married Mary MacKenzie, Baptized Nov 16 1793 at Gortan, Isle of Coll, Scotland. Mary died at an early age. Archibald taught school on the Isle Rum before taking the ship Economy of Aberdeen from
Tobermory to Nova Scotia in 1819 (
http://www.collmagazine.co.uk/article.php?ID=184). He was School Master at Pictou and for 38 years was Provincial Magistrate for PEI Lot 65. He died Dec 7 1872.
Archibald married Catherine McKinnon, born March 24, 1808, PEI on June 12, 1835, a descendent of the McKinnons of Isle of Mull, Scotland. She died in 1897.
