lost grandfather

I have just found out that my 4x grandfather Thomas Hughes was born in 1798 in Tullow he joined the 41st Regiment in 1818 I am trying to find anything about him

hi do you have his army record? and there are 2 possible census 1841/51 that Thomas hughes is living in ashton under lyme

Hi, if you look at the parish registers for Tullow it is possible that you may find Thomas Hughes' birth as luckily the registers go back pretty far. For baptisms in Tullow the dates covered are Aug 1763-Jan 1781, Jan 1798- Jan 1802,June 1807- July 1831,Aug 1830-Apr 1858 and Apr 1858- Oct 1876. If you have an LDS(Latter Day Saints)Library near you they can get the appropriate parish registers in and you can look for his birth.They have them all on microfilm unless you can go to Dublin.Hope this helps,Kim
