Sorry avm228, I was having one of those moments! There is John Otter born 1838 and then John Charles Otter born 1856.  I muddled the two of them up!!  Why do they always have the same names!!!  I was looking for John Otter (no charles) born 1838 on the 1861 census, and you guys have come up trumps, thank you  :)
