Hi Robert,

Another quick reply as I really should be doing other things.

A lot of the names and places are familiar but I will need to sit down when I come home and marry it all up.

I have been through to Edinburgh a few times but was not tracing that line.  I am hoping to go to the Whitekirk, Pefferside and Dirleton area during the summer if I can fit it in.

Thanks for the info, I will try to get the certs the next time I am in Register House.
Looking after my Son at the moment during school hols so can't really spend a day there.
Does anybody have an idea when Helen Hamilton (Dempster) died? must be after 1851 as she is on the Census.
Hopefully we will be able to contact each other through e-mail shortly to pass on some details.

Hi,

Now back from holidays and having a quick fix.  Thought it wise not to take my research with me.  Not everyone is engrossed in family history.

Firstly my apologies in my reply to Graham by addressing it to Robert.

As you will have noticed I started off looking for his parents as John Hamilton and Catherine Fras(z)er but changed to Robert Hamilton and Helen Dempster.  I will need to go back and check again and see if we can sort it out.

Just off the top of my head has anyone else noticed that Barnabas and Margaret had a daughter Agnes Bell Hamilton and later married an Agnes Bell???

Tom - thanks for info on Agnes the daughter.  Don't you think it a coincidence that he later married an Agnes Bell.

Graham- still not sure whether I have the wrong dob for Robert but sometimes I can't see the obvious.  I think I will l need to seek some more expertise.

Wondered if you had noticed the listing of children for Robert and Helen & Barnabus and Margaret in my previous postings.

Agnes Bell Hamilton 1860 may be named after Barnabus's Sister - Agnes 1825, who married a James Bell, Blacksmith.
Will investigate to see if Barnabus's second wife is his Brother in Laws Sister? as Agnes 1825 married a John Bell, Blacksmith.
Will check the marriage Certs for Barnabus and Agnes and Agnes and John to check the parents names.
