Two marriages same couple.
« on: Wednesday 22 October 14 20:24 BST (UK) »
I've come across two marriage records of the same couple. First at the bride's home which was Ferryport, and then a few days later in Dundee, where the couple lived. Does anyone know if this was normal practise?
The marriage was in 1826 and the couple were John Gavine and Catherine Whyte.

Possibly a record of the posting of the banns.

If the bride and groom lived in different parishes, the impending marriage was proclaimed in both parishes, although not necessarily on the same days, therefore the dates in each register may be different.
