It seems to be one of those frustrating cases where people appear from nowhere , and then disappear without a trace. I cannot find any suggestion of a marriage between an Ellin Ellis/Thomas and a William in the years 1855 - 1860, and I cannot find any trace of a possible birth for either Ellin or William. I have a theory about William's father, but without finding him in 1851, its difficult to go further.

I wonder the possible marriage between William Foulkes and Ellen Rees in 1857 might be worth looking into?  It is possible that Ellen married before - although I can't see it.

Thank you for that. That marriage took place in St Peblig in Caernarfon, which makes it slightly less likely. Rees is not a particularly common surname in the area. It looks like I'll have to get off my backside to solve this one !

Sadly the online baptisms for Llanddeiniolen seem to stop in 1832.

I did find a baptism for Robert and Ellis Ellis on 21 July 1832 sons of Robert and Ellen Ellis (Robert is a quarryman)

I feel that patronymic naming has a role to play.I may not have the right candidate, but there is a William Foulkes, son of William Foulkes of Tyn Twll Llanddeiniolen(born circa 1826),who appears as such in the 1841 census, but looks to me to appear as William Williams in the 1851.There are a lot ofWilliams/Ellis/Foulkes combinations around.I also think any marriage might also extend back to the earlier 1850s.I'm out for a while shortly-will have another look later.

Regards
Roger

Thank you for that suggestion, Roger - unfortunately that particular William Foulkes was buried in Llanddeiniolen churchyard on 06/03/1879. (The particular William Foulkes I'm looking for was buried in the small Ebenezer churchyard in 1865) .

I think I may have the answer. A William Williams was born to Robert Williams and Ellen his wife in 1831 (Moel y Blochdy) . Robert Williams's father was William Foulkes, so it might well give us the most likely candidate.
