Words from Will of 1558 COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 06 September 14 20:37 BST (UK) »
I'd be grateful if someone could please let me know what the words underlined in green are?  The Will is of Agnes Prime.  This is a complicated clause that I have had to crop down quite a bit for size.  She seems to be saying that her son John should enter into a bond of thirty pounds with her executor against her oldest son Thomas of the payment of twenty pounds that she did borrow?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Looks like "ffublicue" but that doesn't make any sense.

I think we'd say "hold harmless" nowadays - a contract in which one party to the contract agrees to accept full responsibility for any legal or financial claims stemming from that party's actions and protects another party from such legal or financial claims

I wanted to say "publicue" (that is "public") but it's definitely not a "p" at the beginning

Ah, thank you. It would seem that she is asking John to protect her executor from any claim brought by Thomas to whom she owes money.

It looks like the double ff to me at the start of that word but I just can't think or see what the whole word is.

The last green underlined word is suertie (= surety).
