Trying to decipher my gg-grandmother's maiden name.
« on: Monday 08 September 14 15:55 BST (UK) »
Hi!

Any help would be appreciated.  Have tried KIELRAN and several other variations - to no avail.  Dad's first name seems clear - JAMES

Thanks in advance.  I just cannot seem to make this jump into Ireland...same wall...both mom/dad's side.

Hi - thank you for taking the time to respond!  Just a quick clarity question...the space that says "cannot ascertain" next to Mary's Mother's name...would that not be her maiden name?  (meaning mary's mother?)  I'm trying to find Mary's maiden name - with SHOULD be her Dad's last name (which I've tried KIELRAN without success).  It is possible i have it wrong and I'm looking in the wrong spot  :(

I think it might be Kielhan - just checked the RootsIreland surname list.

When was Mary born?

Hi - well, the document says that she died in April 1890 and that she was 67 years old.  So, by that, I am saying 1823ish.

She married John Donlon and they had two children that I know of Margaret (b. NY 1853) and Michael (my g. grandfather) b. NY 1854

So that makes her 20 and 21 for the births of the children...certainly possible.  John (husband) was born in Ireland somewhere abt 1820
