Who`s birth are you looking for George Taylor born about 1867? Do you have him on any census,or parents or siblings names?
-
Hi looking for Both of them ie George & Sarah (GGparents) where they came from who were their parents if possible......
Their Children were Sarah (My Grandmother), Beatrice, George, Stanley, Godfrey maybe 2 more I think all lived in pontypool.
-
A shot in the dark from the 1871 census for George Taylor could be:
C Row Trevethin Pontypool
George Taylor head 30 1841 Blaenavon Monmouthshire
Rebecca Taylor wife 35 1836 Crickhowell Breconshire
Caroline Taylor dau 8 1863 Blaenavon Monmouthshire
George Taylor son 5 1866 Blaenavon "
John Taylor son 3 1868 Blaenavon "
RG 5335 74 27
This just a guess, please don`t take it as read, until you can prove it.
Do you know Sarah`s maiden name?
-
Hello,
Was Sarah, your grandmother, the oldest child?
When approximately was she born?
Have you checked the 1911 index for the family or Free BMD for ages?
As you can imagine, there are quite a few Taylors in 1901 and 1911.
best wishes
heywood

Hi any idea where I can start finding out about George & Rebecca I would like to know where they married and rebecca's maiden name if possible have gone round in circles looking on the monmouth pages. sorry to be a pest........TSP
-
You could look on Free BMD for a possible marriage.
The only one I can see is a bit of a puzzle.
It's March quarter 1861 - possible bride Rebeca Prosser.
The puzzle is that George and Rebecca should then be together in 1861 census but they are not.
A child's birth certificate would give you Rebecca's maiden name.

Have looked cannot get anywhere eyes stinging will try again when possible thank you

Osprey,
that's great- I was obviously looking at the wrong people ::)
I love it when it is sorted.
heywood :)
PS - so is he married to Rebecca Prosser ?
-
well, it's possible. ::)
There's a Rebecca Prosser baptised in Lower Cwmyoy 1/9/1839 dau of William & Sarah who's not a bad match for age, but not a very good one for birth place.
1841 HO107/743/9 folio 25 pg 10
1851 HO107/2446 folio 159 pg 11
There's a Rebecca Prosser according to FindMyPast in 1841 at HO107/743/9 folio 25 pg 10, but I've no idea where they get the Prosser from as it looks to me as if she's dittoed as Matthews. But at least she's at Blaenavon Iron Works.
The marriage cert is a must to identify the fathers.

The link given in post #10, which was very helpful, appears to be unavailable. It gave all baptisms, burials and marriages for Monmouthshire. Can anyone explain why it's disappeared? And is there any other way of accessing that information online? How frustrating!

It seems to be an issue with Rootsweb - as opposed to Rootschat - not sure whether they have changed something but its outside our control
-
Thank you Arranroots. What a shame....I was going along in leaps and bounds, then suddenly it's gone! ::). does anyone know if that info is available anywhere else on the internet?
-
The Link For Monmouth Bishops records can be down at times for a day or so due to updating I have used it for a long time and this happens every now and again...

Hello again
It isn't as informative, but there is freebmd: http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
Just used this for your marriage request on the other thread.
;)

Arranroots, Thank you! I had looked on FreeBMD, but for some reason I must have missed it. That's such a great help. It's onwards and upwards now, unless I get stuck again! I may be back! ......Jill
