Update
Mary Taylor daughter of John Taylor (no mother given) bap Heworth 21 Aug 1768
Thomas Liddell son of Thomas  (no mother given) bap Heworth 26 Sep 1762

So now I need a few marriages Did either Northumberland or Durham have Marriage indexes? I can't remember seeing one
John Taylor children Heworth 1768 and 1770
Thomas LIDDELL son born Heworth 1762
John WATSON m Ann? daughter  Isabella born about 1840 and Mary born 1843 i have sent for her birth certificate
Still have the mystery of why Mary Ann said her father was George on her marriage certificate
John b 1815 didn't have a brother george so bang goes the theory John was bringing up his brother's child.John was the only son of George I wonder if he was ever called George in honour of his father  ??? ??? umm thats a thought

I think Thomas LIDDELL married Ann SMITH 22 Oct 1832 Lamseley 1841 HO107/ 297/11 fo 9 p12

I obviously didn't look late enough in Newburn - sorry about that  :-[

Northumberland and Durham have marriage indexes covering 1813 - 1837

Hey Christine you did a great job you had to work on the information I gave you. Isn't it great though after all this time we are now back a solid generation and have father's names back 2 generations I want to get back to the region even more now to visit the family areas. I had a look at the Purdhoe history society site which is well laid out but doesn't really cover Wylam. It was great to have the place of residence on the Newburn baptisms too as there were two George and Isabella's having children in the same place at the same time too our labourer from Lemington and a farmer Bless you Bishop Shute Barrington thought I knew the name by the way he had been Bishop of llandaff ( We are in the see of Llandaff) before going to Durham I've had a quick look at the history of the prince Bishops
I still have plenty to find I must be patient and wait until the birth certificate we have ordered comes and hope its the right one. If it is we will have Ann's maiden name  then off we can go on the hunt again
I think George and Isabella will be a tad too early for the marriage index but John Watson and Ann may well be on it Is it on line do you know if not how can I get a look at it?
I can't tell you how grateful I am to everyone for this wonderful boost to the tree

I believe that NDFHS sell a disc with the marriage indexes on - one or two rootschatters have it.

Alternatively they are on the bookshelves at Woorhorn archives - where I will be tomorrow  ;)

Lots of John Watsons in the marriage indes but none of them marrying an Ann Burn.  Many of them did marry ladies called Ann (7 in Northumberland and 20 in Durham) and I made a note of their surnames, parishes and dates if you think they might be useful.

I asked about research charges - £26 per hour standard rate - minimum half an hour

Express rate is double that and guarantees a response within 14 days.

Standard rate service could take 6 - 8 weeks!!

Crossed wires again Christine I have had to abandon the Ann Burn she was the mother on the birth certificate i had which proved wrong so if its possible to do a quick scan of the other john?Ann marriages that would be wonderful . Many thanks for finding out those prices. Do you know if they  sell discs of the marriage index?

Ah found the marriage index  I see its on fiche not a disc and wow  its huge isn't it and only starts in 1813. If you have those John Ann names I would be over joyed to have them
Clues to tha marriage that may help.
I know they had a child in 1840 so I think I need the marriages between  1833-1841
He was born 1815 so would have been 20 in 1835 and Ann was older than him on the 1841 census
both John and Ann were born outside of Co.Durham so the marriage may be Nrth but they are in Birtley in 1841 with the baby isabella born in Chester Le Street district so they may have married in Birtley
