Plumbridge help - have I gone as far as I can?
« on: Wednesday 23 April 14 18:13 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone
Need some help if anyone could spare a moment :-) I am getting married in September and as the last female Plumbridge in my chain I decided would do a family tree as a gift to my dad for a wedding present. I've spent hours upon hours doing research but think I've come to the end of the line which as thrilling as it's been I'm saddened to think this is as far as I can go back.

I would love to be able to know if anyone can help me. This is where I am stuck.
I am looking to find the parents of Edward Thomas Plumbridge Born around 1756 in Ripley, Surrey. He married Martha sink 1778. They had around nine children and he died in 1823.
His name has been spelt in different ways from what I can tell blumbridge etc

If anyone could help me with this last ditch/ shot in the dark I would be very grateful.

Best wishes

Shelley

Hi Shelley,

Can see the marriage of an Edward Plumbridge & Martha Sink 1778 Ocham, which states he is of the Parish of Ripley - this does not mean he was actually born there just that he was living there at time of his marriage.

The burial in 1823 is also for an Edward Plumbridge, can you explain where the name you quote
"Thomas Edward" came from.

Also date of christening of their first child and where christened.

Hi thanks for that,

I have a child for them being jos? Not sure if that's meant to be John? And I have Martha 1777?
On some information it came up as Edward Thomas could be a different person, I thought it may have been the same person

Thanks

Hi Shelley

There are loads of online trees with this couple in but none have a specific date and place of baptism for Edward.

I'll move this topic to the Surrey board where some of the chatters have certain resources which might help further.

Other than that and if all else fails it might be worth contacting the West Surrey Family History Society

"Jos" is usually a shortened version of Joseph.
