Just found Robert and Sophia in 1841:

Robert Habgood 40 can't read occupation.
Sophia Habgood 40
Sophia Habgood 15
Emma Habgood 15
Robert Habgood 10
William Habgood 8
Edwin Habgood 6
Thomas Habgood 3
Henrietta Habgood 4 months.

I can't find Robert and Sophia in 1851 but did find Robert & William sons:
Robert head 21 draper's assistant
William brother 18 draper's assistant
Margaret sister 15 scholar
There are three shop women and a house servant living with them so maybe over the draper's shop?

Robert and William may have been working for their father and mother in 1861 but living a few doors away both in Dyer Street.

Thanks Artifis,

I have just about managed to sort the two families out, confusing.  Started a marriage thread on the London board and hence the father's names so my family is from Robert not Thomas. Looks as if Robert Kimber was still alive in 1870.

The family I am researching is Robert Kimber and Sophia's family but sure Thomas could be a relation especially if Robert Kimber is named in Thomas's probate.

See you found a few more siblings.

Hi Helen,
Found another interesting fact in Kelly's Directory, Gloucester, 1914
James HABGOOD was resident at 158 Cricklade Street, Cirencester.
Must be one of yours.

Could well be Victor, these Habgoods seem to turn up everywhere.  Wander how many Habgoods there are in Cirencester now.

Hi Helina, Robert Kimber Habgood is Thomas Habgood's brother with Thomas the older one of the two.  I wonder if that's how he came to farm so many acres, inheriting from their father with Robert given money to set up a draper's business in Cirencester then setting tow of his sons up in the business in turn.  It would be good to find out where Robert was in 1851 but I can't find them anywhere.  I did look all through the census book that is for Dyer ward which contains his sons entry.

According to the marriage details for son William born 1832 and Maria Bartlet born 1843 in 1872 father Robert was a printer, but his sons well at least 2 of them plus 1 daughter were drapers, but in 1821 father Robert was a draper.  If I remember correctly the business seem to have folded up by 1861.  Think I found that bit of information on ancestry which I do not subscribe to.  Maybe that is the reason William went to London.
