Sarah Wilson daughter of Thomas Wilson and Agnes Paterson born around 1818 Sarah married John Houston no data on marriage they had a son John Wilson Houston born August 9th 1846 Kilbride Bute - 1851 and 1861 census John is living with grandparents Thomas and Agnes Wilson in Ardrossan - John marries Hannah Gembell(Gamble) 1869 Kilwinning - Father John Houston is listed as ship captain on marriage certificate and does not indicate he is deceased but I have been unable to find John and Sarah - does anyone have any info on Houston Family

Have you considered  that maybe John and Sarah weren't married?

I wonder if this is Sarah in 1851 at Dunoon with a couple of years shaved off her age -
