Hi Krissy

Scotlandspeople only shows one James Dewar birth in Stirlingshire for 1784-1786.

James Dewar b. (or christened) 06 June 1784 @ Airth (Stirlingshire) to
John Dewar and Christian Drummond.

Frame No:  FR 446

GROS data:  469/00  0002

Hope this helps.

Hi again Krissy

If the above is the right guy, these are some family details from the familysearch site.  Be careful, as they are submitted entries, and not always reliable, but as there is confirmation of James b/ch on Scotlandspeople, should be Ok as long as you cross check and verify the info.

Children of John Dewar/Christian Drummond:

James as above, b. 23 May 1784, ch. 06 June 1784 @ Airth
Charles  ch. 21 April 1791 @ Airth
William  ch. 12 April 1788 @ Airth
George  ch. 06 May 1786 @ Airth
Elizabeth  ch. 18 Oct 1779 @ Airth
Jean  ch. 17 March 1777 @ Airth

There is also another family of children born to a John Dewar/Crhistian Drummond in Fife, Torryburn.

These are Extracts so are reliable: James 1771, John 1772 and George 1775.

Good Luck with your searching.

Ellen.

The dewar involvement in whisky (legally anyway  ;D ) didn't really come about until much later see http://www.firstfoot.com/Great%20Scot/johndewar.htm

Not my lot ...... although one of them was a doctor and left £5000 in the early 1800's (unfortunately it all went to the church)
