Anyone going to Chester RO?
« on: Sunday 19 October 14 23:26 BST (UK) »
Hi
Is there anybody going to the Cheshire Archives Office soon and could take a photo of a couple of things for me please? – a visit from the other side of the world not possible unfortunately.

I have just found, after all these years!  a settlement order for my 4x great grandfather.

The ref is ZTCP/8/123
Date 22 Sept 1774
He was Thomas Almon, with wife Esther and children William, Jesse, Mary and John. All this info from the short title on National Archives.

I would love to see what it says.

I also have a will – which I have tried to download from FindMyPast many times, and which never appears. I contacted FindMyPast months ago, and they acknoweldged there was problem, and would see to it. That was well over 6 months ago now, so goodness only knows when they will get round to it – they have much to do otherwise I think yet before they get round to that.

It is of a John Cash 1759 Wilmslow.

I would be more than happy to pay the photography fee for the day.

Many thanks if anybody is able to help out.

Hi,
I can't see a will for a John Cash on the FindMyPast index, was it a transcription error and they have now removed it ?

You can search Cheshire wills on the Cheshire RO web
site.http://archives.cheshire.gov.uk/search_and_shop.aspx

I've had a quick look and I can't see a John Cash on it.

If it is, then you won't be at Chester, Cheshire record office ,you'll need the Lancashire one(Manchester?)  ;D

Was that a typo then?
Should the post have read Warrington instead of Wilmslow. ???
I have a number of Wilmslow wills, always been Cheshire.
From memory one of them names a Sarah Cash as a beneficiary.
I'll have to dig it out see what it says. ;D

Hi everyone
sorry, that was my typo  :-[
Should have been Thomas Cash  1759 of Wilmslow - lots of Johns and Thomas' in the family.
I know it's on the cheshire RO list, but I think they still do photocopies, and it's just not the same as an actual photo.
Cheers

If you do not find anyone who is going to the Chester Office, I am sure that they would send you a copy of the items you require if you either rang them or e-mailed them. they are usually very helpful.
