DNA Does Female child also show father's mother's DNA
« on: Tuesday 18 March 14 18:16 GMT (UK) »
Curious to know:   Female child's DNA.... does the father's mother's DNA also show up? Is it only the male line that doesnt come thru? I notice that in 2 of my grandsons; they are very much like my husband in mannerisms and walk. I can see my father in one of their mother's. Fascinating stuff!
I also note that often  sons looks very much like his mother and speaks with the father's intonations.

Short answer yes.

you do inherit DNA from all you recent ancestors and this is how the family finder (autosomal) DNA test work.

There was a link to explaining how family finder works

(from a talk at WDYTYA)
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.
