People who lived at an address in 1911?
« on: Thursday 31 July 08 07:37 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone,

I am trying to find out if there is an way I can find out who lived at an address in 1911.

I have a Nicholas John Carney who died on September 24th 1911 and his address is given as 59 Water Street, Port Dundas, he was a hairdresser and the death certificate has his wife as Margaret Carney who registered the death.

I am trying to find out if other people lived with this family but I can't find them in the 1901 census and would have to wait on the 1911 census.

Any ideas welcome as I can't find them in Ireland either and I think they were also in Liverpool as some of the children in earlier census were born there.

Best I can do for you is tell you that on the 1913-1914 Valuation Rolls the tenants at this property were:
Constantine McCadden
Andrew Dunn and
David Lockie

Hi Daval,

Thanks for your help I appreciate it but I was really trying to find the Carney family!!  I know his wife didn't live there after Nicholas died in 1911, I don't know where she went but found her death in Dundee in 1934.

Looks very much like I will have to wait on the 1911 census to find out who else was living in the house when he died.

It is a very long wait for me but nothing else I can do really!!

Thanks again! :)

Hi Newfster,

Woow £45 somehow I don't think so he he!!

I didn't know the National Archives had the 1911 census available to the public though.

I have been hearing a lot about it maybe being released earlier than the 100 year rule though, if it does or doesn't I wouldn't pay them that much for it. :o

Hi again Newfster,

Well thats not so bad if it will be on Scotlands People, I really like Scotlands People and have paid a lot on there for BMD's and census but it is a great website.

Hi

Its doubtful if it will actually be on Scotlandsprople itself although there may be a link. A company called Brightsolid (which I believe was Scotland Online), an Internet Service Provider operates Scotlandspeople on behalf of the GROS. and, in partnership with the National Archives is digitising the 1911 census.

The 1911 census may well be on a separate website with a different costing structure perhaps similar to the 1901 census when it was first released.

Brightsolid also own Findmypast.
