Annie Murphy Enniscorthy
« on: Wednesday 29 January 14 17:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

I have started to source info on my G Greatmother.

I know from what my nanny told me was that her mam was Annie Murphy and she was from Enniscorthy she told me stories of going down to visit them and hated it she found the countryside so lonely.

Now this is where it gets complicated.

Annie is buried in Glasnevin and on her details its date of Death 15th April age 1927 34, thus DOB 1893.
Annie Murphy death certificate states her age as 45 dying on the 15 April 1927, thus DOB 1882.
Now her marriage cert in 1912 states her age as 22 thus her DOB as 1890.

I know on her marriage cert her father is Arthur Murphy. I think this may be them on the census if i use her birth on the marraige cert. 1890....

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Wexford/Edermine/Ballybanoge/1786712/
and 1911 where she is not on the census
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Wexford/Enniscorthy_Rural/St__John_s/679514/

But god only knows... i dont know with which DOB to go with? any suggestions. This is using the assumption of the 1890 DOB.

I also looked for all annie/ann/anne with a father Arthur and this is only one i could come up with in enniscorthy or beside it..

I think you can take the ages for Glasnevin and death cert with a pinch of salt, proper age only known to the deceased, depending on  who was the informant at death and Glasnevin it sounds like guess work to me and you will see that a lot on here with other posts.
I think you should go with your gut instinct with what you have found as 1890 seems right to me.
Have you an address for her in 1912 as there are a lot of Anne's as servants age 20ish and one as grandaughter on 1911 census
