Cottage Identity? South Street Kingston Village
« on: Sunday 12 January 14 11:06 GMT (UK) »
Dear Forum,

A long shot, but you never know. I believe that this photo of the Cooper Family was taken about 1930 at a Cottage on South Street, Kingston. Any ideas? I know there is not much to see but perhaps there are features in the chiminey that identify it. Regards Jason Harrison, Australia

On street view Google Maps it looks possibly like the cottage just south of the main junction in Kingston on the east side of South St

Kay

Edit   Sorry the chimney is in the centre of the cottages rather than at the end

I think you're right Kay - the photo looks to have been taken in the rear garden, there is a rear wing to the row of the cottages with a chimney at the end which could well be the one in the photo. It is just possible to get a view of it on Streetview, it does look like the one in the photo to me.

Jan ;)

You can get a much better view of the chimney if you go  into West St and turn round.

Jan

I think you are right - It's the chimney of the rear extension :)

I caught a glimpse from further up South Street

Kay

Edit - The view from West St is really clear

Dear Jan and Kay,

Thank you very muh for all of your information, I have really appreciated your interest in helping me solve this problem. Perhaps one day I will get to see this cottage for myself, regards Jason
