Surname GLASS in Northumberland

I am carrying out a ONS of the surname GLASS. I have just discovered its  occurrence on the 1538 Muster Roll of Northumberland which is the earliest occurrence in this county that I have found so far. And what's more it is in the same village -Wark on Tweed-as my own earliest known ancestor (married in 1767) of that name!
 Does anyone have any suggestions as to how  I might try to trace a link between the two between the dates of 1538 and 1767?
Sadly the parish registers there do not start until 1680's.
Are there any records I could search between 1538 and 1680? I would be grateful for any suggestions.
