Inishmurray Island
« on: Wednesday 10 September 14 17:01 BST (UK) »
Hi, can anyone help?  Was Inishmurray Island a parish in its own right or was it part of a mainland parish in Sligo?

Thanks

PS it's in relation to Garrity/Heraghty families

Hello,

According to a Griffiths Valuation records, it was in Ahamlish civil parish.  More here

For administrative purposes, the island was a townland in the civil parish of Ahamlish:

I just realised that I omitted 'in' which makes a big difference to the meaning! Beg your pardon  :)

However, I linked to the townlands - so hope that is ok.

Heywood, many thanks for this, I've found a baptism but just mentions the parish but no specific reference to the island.
