More Missing POLLARDs
« on: Tuesday 25 November 14 04:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi folks

The POLLARDs are proving elusive this week.

The latest one is Emlyn (b St Neot, Mar Q 1856 Liskeard).  At the 1861 Census she is living with her parents and siblings (as Emlin, aged 6) at St Neot (RG9/1530).  It might be her (as Emily) in 1871 aged 16 at St Clear (RG 10/2237) as a servant.  But I can't find any record subsequently of her marriage or death.  There is a Emlin POLLARD marriage in Sherbourne in 1875, but I'm pretty sure thats the same couple who are 67 and 68 respectively at the 1881 Census, which would be much too old for my Emlyn.

Any thoughts?

And if you have a look at the cornwall OPC database online you will find the first four children of James and Jane (including Fenella who is listed in the 1861 census) were baptised in warleggan, not St Neot (as they indicate on 1861 census)

www.cornwall-opc-database.org

This Pollard family (found via Fenella) is in Warleggan in 1851
Hallidays of Northowram, Roberts of Hovingham, Stampers of Kirkdale, Cocks of Mary Tavy Devon, Cocks of Redruth Cornwall, Manser of Sussex, Axel of East Sussex, Palmer of East Sussex, Hermitage of Sussex, Smale of Kent, Haddon of Devon, Cuthill of Kinross-shire, Lynn of Ireland, Seymour of Cork

Yes, it could well be the other Emeline in 1871.

Emlin Luskey was 91 when she died in 1936, so born c 1844 well before my Emlyn.

The difference might be that the Census asked for place of birth, not baptism.  Warleggan and St Neot are less than 4 miles apart.  All of the ten POLLARD children born between 1842 and 1860 I'm confident are siblings.
