Gourley Family in Killea Parish in Donegal, Ireland
« on: Wednesday 12 March 14 15:52 GMT (UK) »
Thomas Gourley was born in Donegal, Ireland in 1796 and immigrated to the US in 1836.  In his wife's obituary it says they were from Ardnamoghill which is in the Killea parish.  I found him in the TAB in 1834 living in Dunmore.  I have been trying to figure out his wife, Jane's, maiden name and who their parents might be.  They were married there and had 7 children before immigrating.  The children were Matilda, Eliza Jane, Margaret, James, Susan, Thomas Jr. and Marie/Maria.  Any help or direction anyone could give me would be much appreciated!

Thank you for your thoughts.  I have been to that site many many times.  We have Thomas in the TAB's twice.  Once in 1830 and once in 1834.  There is a James Gourley living on the land in the Griffiths Valuation in 1857, but I can't for sure determine how they are related yet.  Thomas did name one of his sons James, but this James is too young to be his father, perhaps his brother or nephew.

That would be a great idea!  How would I go about doing that?  I don't even know what he local paper would be called.  I do know that my 4th great grandmother's obituary was in the Londonderry Sentinel.  Maybe I should put it in there!
