Civil Marriage 1890
« on: Saturday 31 May 14 06:58 BST (UK) »
Wanting to obtain a marriage certificate from the period of 1890 Ballyshannon.
I was directed to Civil Registration Office Roscommon, but when applying online they only hold to 1920 no further back. So where to now?

Thanks,

Fran ???

Irish Civil Registration started in 1864 did you by any chance make an error and ask for 1990.

Hi,
Civil registration of Protestant marriages and Registry Office marriages started in 1845; Catholic registration started in 1864.

The site can be confusing as it designed more for living people ordering their own cert have a look at this thread

A research cert only costs €4

who are you looking for in Ballyshannon you relatives might still live there.

if you are RC the churchs will not give you this information anymore because of fraud.  I think you have to go in person/

the family search site might have it on there
