and had slaves Sambo and Thomas working for them.(1790-1810)

Thank you Dixie
Think the first Malcolm was the son of the above Malcolm .
I bet that will would make good reading ;D...
so his father must have left a will as well, which would probably mention any slaves they had (his father I think was still alive in 1810)
anything else anyone finds please
Regards
Steve

Coleraine Chronicle- 22 Sept.1866: At his residence, The Corran, county Antrim, on the 14th inst., Malcolm McNeill, Esq., aged 75 years.
Coleraine Chronicle- 2 May 1868: At Woolwich, on the 28th ult., Captain John McNeill, Royal Artillery. second son of the late Malcolm McNeill, Esq., The Corran, county Antrim.
Will also check Londonderry Sentinel which starts 1829.

Nothing more in Sentinel. There are lots of Co. Antrim McNeills (various spellings) in both papers.

Thank you so much for looking

This is interesting because our McNeil`s come from Ardnamurchan, Inverness shire Scotland. We have Angus born 1775 a wheelwright and his father also Angus @1750 a shepherd. I have been unable to go any further back but assumed the Ardnamurchan McNeil`s probably came from Barra. Since at that time transport would be by sea it is also possible they came from Northern Island.

Thank you Mary
I am still trying to untangle these McNeill's.
Looks like Malcolm of the Curran Larne( b.1791) was the forth son of John McNeill the old lard of Colonsay.
so the Capt Malcolm McNeill I found in Islandmagee (1760's)is not his father ,probably an uncle.
Rustidge,
I beginning to think they are all related, in some way and Barra does seem to be where they all originated from.
I will keep looking
