Hi Everyone, Ive recently located a burial record for St Nicholas' Church in Liverpool and im trying my best to order a death certificate for that relative, without much success. This relative died in 1852 and is listed as having lived at 'back claire street' somewhere in liverpool but without a more specific area the registry office say theyre unable to issue a certificate. The street no longer seems to exist according to googlemaps so im a little lost. Has anybody got a clue of the area this street was in at all please?
Thanks for you help,
luke

Hi Luke
According to the 1851 census there was a Back Clare Street in Liverpool with registration district Liverpool.
What is your relatives name?
Evie

Checking the 1881 census, where you can do a search by streetname - Clare Street appears in District 23 of Islington, St Anne's Ecclesiastical District. The Enumerator's Walk reads
Part of the City of Liverpool comprising Springfield Street North Side from St Anne Street to Christian Street. Clare Street both sides and Courts from Springfield Street to Myrtle View. St Anne Street West Side and Courts from Springfield Street to Great Richmond Street.
If you check the current maps you would see Springfield Street on the east of St Anne's Street, but I would think that Clare Street, with Back Clare Street, would be to the West of it, between there and Christian Street.

In 1861 and 1871, Back Clare Street is showing in St Annes St Ward, Ecclesiastical District of Christ Church

Haha, I've obviously slept since then, forgotten all about it a year ago ;D

Thanks guys, im going to send off again for the certificate today.
My relatives name was Mary Jones Evie. She was a widow at the time and aged just 40, I think this was a very short term residence for her and she may have had one of her two sons living with her at the time - Robert Halsall Jones or Uriah Halsall Jones.
Thanks again, hope this works

Good Luck Luke
I can see now why you were having problems 14 Mary Jone's to choose from all within registration district of Liverpool ::)
It's a good job MaryA and ShaunJ replied :)

1851 census
Breck Lane, West Derby, Lancashire
Uriah Halsall Head M 76 Bricklayer Liverpool, Lancashire

Mary Jones Servant Wid 37 Servant " "
Uriah Jones Lodger 14 App. Litho Printer Oxton, Cheshire

Somebody has saved this census image to private trees on Ancestry and also have submitted a correction as Uriah was transcribed as Norah. This happened in 2008 and another in 2009, but I have sent a message to the contacts to see if they will look at this post and respond.

Yes I have to admit it does make my head spin a little, she has a much more common name than her sons Evie.
MaryA, yes this is the correct Mary Jones, Uriah and Mariah Halsall are actually her parents and Uriah Jones is her 2nd son.
Thanks for all this time guys!

I have in my possession the family Bible belonging to Uriah Halsall and his wife. Would you like me to PM you all of the births/deaths/marriages from it?

Upon reading your areas of interests, I have decided that you're not being sarcastic. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Does anyone think that the creator of this thread might return any time soon?
-
No I was not being sarcastic, it's not every day a family bible turns up, nor somebody willing to share that sort of information.
Although gnorman isn't the most prolific of posters it was only the beginning of the month that this post was started and they will be notified of replies, so I hope they do return soon.
