Only Donald I can find so far 1846 is in Assynt to a Hugh and Kate McLeod.

Funnily enough there are two much earlier births to a Hugh McLeod and Dollina (no surname) in Assynt, James 1830 and Katherine 1833.

Also possibly Donald's brother Alexander to Hugh McLeod and Dollina Ross in Creich 1856.

Hi

There are many Scottish baptisms 'missing' between 1843 and 1855. In many cases the reason is that the family left the Church of Scotland and joined the Free Church. Unfortunately very few Free Church registers are indexed on Familysearch.

Sutherland is a fairly large county and has/had about 15 parishes. I believe some of the Free Church parish records are available at the GRO in Edinburgh, but I think you might have to narrow your search area a bit. Have you tried working backwards from what you do know? Labourious, I agree, but it may have the best chance of success.

Raggyroo,
Are you the originator of the post in the undernoted link? It seems to be the family you are enquiring about.
