Dear Listers,
For the last 14 years I have had a "brickwall" and not sure about the one that I have
sort of "claimed" as my husband's.
The previous 10 years I had requests on the English Genforum. Then someone sent me
a death notice of WJB from 1888 and it mentioned: DEVON PAPERS PLEASE. So I am
presuming this is where he came from.
Will start from when he was living in South Australia and marrying a MARY TABRAHAM
HAWKES 1st Oct 1862...They had 9 children, Mary died 31/10/1883, the youngest child
Lottie May was born 1881. By the 7th oct 1884 WJB had married again a Ann Hall (nee Scott)
she was a widow with a number of children.
William John Boyce ended up working in Broken Hill, NSW have not been able to trace any
details. He apparently died 20/09/1888, burried as a Pauper age 53 years.
Would appreciate any help that you could give me.
Once Devon was mentioned had a number of Researchers on the Devon Genforum suggest
that the WJB was the child of Sarah Andrews born 6 April 1834... who later that year had
married a William John Boyce.
I have not been able to find him on any ship coming to Australia by 1862. Have tried WA
of course SA and Victoria. Have tried various spellings as well.
Then even thought he might have come out under Andrews but no success.
Would love to either find the right family for WJB or "claim" Sarah Andrews born c1815 as
his mother.
many thanks,
Sieglinde, Australia.
