Hilda * b.1929 Wickford, UK

I am new to Rootschat so please excuse any wrongdoings until I learn how to do things properly I have been advised to post here. I am looking to find what happened to a woman born Hilda ^(*) on 19th May 1929 in Wickford, Essex to Stanley and Emma ^(*). Marriages in 1950 and 1972 for Hilda ^(*) in the UK relate to other people. I understand from some nephews and nieces that she used to socialize with American and Canadian soldiers after at the end of the war and as there are no marriage or death records in the UK I am thinking she may have emigrated with one of them to the U.S./Canada. I have no experience in US/Canadian genealogy - any ideas where I could start? Thank you.

It is quite possible that the lady you seek may be married and still living.
There is no BMD index in Canada or the USA. The last census in the USA was 1940.
There are 4 deaths showing on the USA SSDI (Social Security Death Index) for Hilda's with a birth date of 19 May 1929.

An obituary indicates that Hilda Randolph was US-born.  A cemetery record indicates that Hilda Smith's maiden name was Vergon.  So that rules out 2 of the possibilities. 

Also, keep in mind that not everyone in the US is on the Social Security Death Index.  If she died before the early 1960's, she would probably not show up there.

There are a few UK deaths for Hilda's with a birth date 15 May 1929 -

Hilda Brierley - September 2003 Manchester.

Hilda Sefton - February 2005 Oldham.

Hilda Smallman - October 1991 Macclesfield.
