« on: Thursday 18 September 14 07:51 BST (UK) »
Can you please help? I think they were both born about 1805. I want to confirm  if they were buried in Froxfield and when. Thanks in advance.

When and where did they die?  You'll need to know that before you can think about monumental inscriptions surely?
And remember, a burial does not = a headstone!
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex

Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex

To the  best of my knowledge they lived and died in Froxfield. As to when they died I do not know and that Is why I was asking about M.I's in Froxfield , I think the parish church is All Saints. So if the M.I's have been done....... I will have more than just when they died

Did they survive until 1841 or 51 census? Till civil registration began in 1837?

I think your Peck family may have moved to Corsham,West Wiltshire sometime between 1832 and 1834.  John and Ann Peck had three sons baptised in Froxfield. -  George(1828),  Alfred(1830) and Jesse(1832).  I believe they also had a son John baptised in Corsham in 1834.  There is a Jesse Peck who dies in Calne district (that includes Corsham) in 1840.  In the 1841 census, George Peck aged 13 is an apprentice basket maker in Calne. Alfred Peck (11) and John Peck(7) are inmates in Calne Workhouse.  Corsham had no workhouse of its own,I believe.

This may be a red herring but it may also give you something to think about!

Thank you LuLubird..what a lovely name...

I don't think it's a red herring it sounds very, very plausible , I don't suppose you know what became of John and Ann ??

Many thanks to you Linda ...I love the name lulubird

I've found no trace of them in the burial records for either Corsham or Calne,I'm afraid.  That said,Jesse Peck(died 1840) doesn't see to have been buried there either!  Perhaps they had become non-conformist since the birth of John?  I'll keep looking but those records are still largely unsubscribed in Wiltshire.

Glad that you like my moniker!

Hi Lulubird,

Thanks for your help , I wonder if they were buried in their home parish in Froxfield ?

I am from South Wales and I haven't had a chance yet to get either the Wiltshire or Berkshire Burial Records to help with my search. I need all the help I can get.

Regards
Mike :)

I thought that Corsham came under Chippenham not Calne registration district  at that time?

There was also a workhouse in Chippenham which would have been the one used for Corsham.

Marlborough was the nearest town to Froxfield.
