The Seaton family, Stilton, Huntingdonshire

hi, I am new to Rootschat so am not really sure what to do.

I am researching the family of Frederic Seaton b1806 in Stilton - father possibly Francis Seaton, mother Sarah Cole.  Frederic possibly married Maria Allan/Allen.  Their first child was Sarah Seaton b abt 1833, Taylorsthorpe, Norfolk (? Probably got this from a census), next child Georgianna b abt 1835, Luddington, Rutland, Maria Matilda b1837 Luddington, Ann Mary bMarz1840 Whissendine, Rutland, and then Frederic John William Allan born 11 August 1842 Buckminster, Leicestershire, baptism 30 September 1853 St Edmunds Church, Downham Market. My direct link is Frederic born 1842 hence why I have his birth date so complete.

Anyŵay, what I would really appreciate is if anyone can help me find out more about the father Frederic b1806, his parents/siblings birth/bap/marriage etc.  Can anyone help,me or steer me in the right direction.

  thank you - how do I find a 'source' for this - where did you look - I am a relative novice at this ancestry lark and so am still looking on how to find out information.  But thank you again much appreciated.

Wow - that is awesome - how do you get things like that for research.  Is there more information you might be able to let me know, and how do I 'log' on my ancestry tree - I have added the date but how do I show evidence.

Sorry for all the questions but as you can tell I am quite 'keen' and want to learn as much as I can about doing this research so that my information is correct.  Any advice would be well received by me.

Whilst Rootschat is nothing to do with Ancestry, if you click on Baptism to which you've just added the date, and then on Add a new source citation at the bottom, that's where you add a source.

Thank you again for your help - not sure if the Francis Seaton - Sarah Agutter is the right Spouse as I understand that there are 2 Seaton families in Stilton/Huntingdonshire around this time and the surname of the Sarah is Cole (?) but I am only going by what 2 others have told me and I think my line is from the Cole side - rather difficult to prove as they are both Sarah!  But again thank you - at least I can work on it! One of the people who has advised me on this has done the research for nth Seaton families so I can refer back to his research for double checking.

Is it worth investing in the parish records for marriages/births/baps etc - do they tell you a lot or only if you know what you are doing?
