1841 Census
Brampton, Cumberland
HO107/450/4/Brampton
Ann CROOT, 30, Publican
EDMUND, 25, Butcher
Samuel, 20, Wheelwright

1851 Samuel is in Riseley, Bedfordshire, down as born c 1819 Brompton, Hunts

Samuel CROOT Married Ann VALENTINE, 07 Jan 1848, Riseley, Bedfordshire
Parents are WILLIAM Croot and WILLIAM Valentine
(Source Familysearch.Org)

So I presume Ann/Edmund/Samuel are Siblings from the 1841 Census.

Ann stays unm and in Brampton 1851/1861 where she is born c 1811/1812
1851 a HENRY Croot born c 1813, Brother, unm,  turns up and an Aunt, Elizabeth IBBOTT, born c 1779, Biggleswade, Beds is with them. She is Unmarried so it may be their Mothers maiden name.
HO107/1748/421/8

Trish :)

I may have steered you in the wrong direction and Ann/Edmund and Samuel may not all be Siblings.
(Well Samuel at least)

When you get the 1846 M/C of Edmund/Elizabeth to confirm her Fathers name/occp keep this Marriage on file for possible ref;

Very many thanks for all your interesting replies, will get my head around them now !
I have a very old half-pint pewter mug engraved S Croot, trying to decipher the middle line (probably the pub name),the last line being Huntingdon.
The publican connections are interesting.
All very much appreciated, and will post further.

Before investigating the Croots further have been trying to find out more about the two Henry Tingays.Henry Tingay born 1831 Brampton, have found him on 1841 and 1851 censuses, but nothing further. His probable son ,Henry Tingay born 1854 Brampton, found on 1861 census.
Would be grateful for any further census or other records of these two Henrys.
