Johannah Piggott of Spaldwick
« on: Friday 29 August 14 11:41 BST (UK) »
Hi!
Can anyone help with the following?

Does anyone have access to baptisms or burials for Spaldwick, Huntingdon?

I am trying to find anything on a Johannah Piggott buried in 1800 at Spaldwick, and also a Jane Piggott buried 1800 at Spaldwick?

I believe Johannah (or Joanna) maybe the first wife of a John Piggott and they married on October 10th 1799 t Bletsoe, Bedfordshire.

Also I am trying to find a baptism of a Sarah Piggott, circa 1799/1800 at Spaldwick, daughter of John Piggott and Johannah Abbot?

Any help very much appreciated! :D

The LDS was refused permission to film Spaldwick parish register so they are not on the IGI or BVRI, nor is a transcript available from Hunts FHS. Your best bet is to use Cambs Archives research service which is available at reasonable cost.

The Bletsoe PR transcript has no further info on the 10 Oct 1799 marriage of John Pigott to Joanna Abbot. That was the only entry for the Pigott name in the Bletsoe transcript and there is no mention of baptism of Joanna Abbot. The original marriage entry will give you the witnesses names that may help you identify this couple.

The Bletsoe marriage register entry names her as Johanna Abbot (although she signs as Joanna), spinster, of this parish & him as John Pigott, bachelor, of this parish. Witnesses are William Reynolds and William Faulkner (although the latter person witnesses many more, so he's most likely the clerk).

Banns were read 22/9, 29/9 & 6/10 1799 - both parties are of this parish.

Hi!
Many thanks for the information. Really appreciated!

The only other Abbot information I can find for Bletsoe is the following:

A William Ibbot/Abbot married a Rose Poland on 7 November 1722 at Bletsoe and they had two children:

William Ibbot/Abbot baptised 20 January 1723 Bletsoe

John Ibbot/Abbot baptised 9 May 1725 Bletsoe

There is also the birth of a Samuel Poland baptised 12 February 1721 at Bletsoe, mother Rose Poland (no father mentioned).

Also at Bletsoe there are children of a Edward and Rose Poland :

Thomas Poland baptised 1 November 1702

Edward Poland baptised 1 December 1706

Elizabeth Poland baptised 17 April 1709 (buried 5 April 1728 Bletsoe)

Mary Poland baptised 16 December 1711

An Edward Poland is buried 4 November 1713 at Bletsoe, so whether Rose Poland had an illegitimate son Samuel in 1721 and then married William Abbot/Ibbot in 1722, or had a daughter Rose who married William I don't know?

If anyone can help with the above incase they are connected to Joanna Abbot who married John Piggott I would be very grateful. :D

Hello again

There is no additional details for the above marriages, baptisms & burials in the Bletsoe PR transcript. It does not say that Rose Poland was a widow when she married John Ibbot.

I am not certain that Ibbot and Abbot are inter-changeable. They are separately indexed in the transcript.

To complete your findings at Bletsoe, a John Ibbot, tailor was buried on 21 May 1744 and a Rose Ibbot, widow buried on 21 Jan 1760.
