Kim,

From the Oxfordshire Family History Society PR transcripts, George PAIN was baptised in Woodstock on 14 January 1825, the son of Samuel, victualler, and Ann.

I saw this the other day and it rang a bell, so took another look at it this morning. I cant be sure these are George's parents but they look quite promising, sadly but not surprisingly no occ for the groom.

St Marys Church, Woodstock.
There is a marriage of a Samuel PAIN bachelor on 8 Aug 1808 after LIC to Ann PAYNE sp Minor by S. Stanton Officiating Wits; Elizabeth PAYNE,  Richard PAYNE, Sarah PAIN and B BENNETT Clk

Hope this helps a bit more

Thank you for this,it looks interesting, especially  the two distinct spelling of the PAIN/PAYNE name.

I could see that leading to some confusion :)
