Catherine born  May, 1855
Martin born July, 1857
James born May 1862

Anyone who recognises or is related to the above please contact me.

Thank you.

Hi Doire,

I would be a distant relative of yours as I am a member of the Murphy family that still resides in the Kinturk townland. I have access to a document which sets out the Murphy family history from their arrival in Kinturk from County Wexford some time around the Wexford Revolution in 1798.

Family rumour has it that they Murphy's were banished from Wexford with the instruction to keep travelling west and not look back until they could see the sea ! The Murphy current residence in Kinturk is about 15 miles from the Atlantic Ocean but it can be seen from there so there must be some element of truth in the rumour. What they may have done in Wexford to warrant their exit is still not known!

The document I refer to was given to another relative some time ago so I will try to get that back and can share more specifics with you.

Brian

Hello Doire,

Yes I have. A Tadhg Murphy and 3 sons arrived in Kinturk sometime after the 1798 Wexford Revolution and I would be a direct line descendant. Once I get hold of the document I referred to earlier I can share more of that with you if you are intererested.

The McGuane and Haren families are also still resident in the Kinturk townland.

Brian

Hello Brian

Yes, I would be very interested in hearing more on the Murphy origions in Kinturk.

Do you know if any members of the McGuane and Haren families are interested in family research?  I had been to the Banner County last year researching but time beat me!

Many thanks,

Marie

Hi Marie,

I have now got the Murphy family history in Kinturk. That information goes back as far as my great-great-grandfather. Unfortunately there is no record in that of Hannah Murphy which leads me to think that your Hannah may not have come from the Murphy household in Kinturk. As you would know there should be a marriage record of Hannah and your Haren ancestor in the Kilmaley marriage records if Hannah was a Kinturk Murphy.  Also I would expect to see her on the list of girls attending Kinturk school but there is no record of her there either as far as I can see.

Hello Brian,

I have the information of Hannah Murphy she married John Haren (of Tullaghaboy) in Kilmaley Parish 22 February, 1852.  Witnesses at the marriage were Patrick Haren and Michael Murphy.

Would Kinturk school have been established in 1830's?
