Did he live past the 1851 census? If so where did he say he born?
As the custom was to marry in the brides parish, he could have come from anywhere, even if she was in Shepshed all her life.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Greeting’s ….Folks

On Robert’s Marriage Register entry
It states that Robert was from the Parish of GUMLEY

Within the County of Leicestershire
And Ann is of the Parish of Shepshed.

I’ve haad a quick whizz around my discs
But did mot spot Robert’s Baptism in Gumley
There was a Joseph & Mary Dobson baptizing children in about the same year as Ann …….. late 1700’s

Hopes this helps in some small way.

MIKE. ……

Thank you Mike  ;D I got their marriage from Phillmores, so either missed Gumley or it wasn't there.........

Also thank you for the information about the other 'Dobson' couple , I need to investigate them now and every little bit of information helps and now I no longer live in Leicestershire......a trip to Wigston Magna is completely out of the question ( Oh I miss that!)

Hi everyone,

I've just joined the forum after doing a search for Sheepshed or Shepshed and Whitworth. This is one of the main lines that I'm working on. I have several Ann Whitworths but no Dobson family in my tree. I would love to make more connections.

If this managed to get to any other Whitworth researchers, please give me a shout either on here or privately at nigel - at- nigelreed - dot - net.

Thanks
Nigel

Lovely to hear from you and welcome to rootschat

If you post another couple of times you can then use PM on rootschat

As previously meantioned  Robert Dobson married  Ann Whitworth 8 Nov 1813 Shepshed Leicester, Ann was  baptised 1 Aug 1790 in Shepshed Leicester to parents John and Elizabeth Whitworth. Ann is my direct line and so 1790 is when she comes into my tree and I have nine siblings for her one of which may be 'yours'.
Robert Dobson and  Ann Whitworth would be my great great grandparents

Hi there,

I have the same Ann Whitworth in my tree. Daughter of John and Elizabeth Lakin. That is where the trail goes cold for me on that line. I have 8 children for them, am I missing one?

James Whitworth
Mary Whitworth
Thomas Whitworth
John Whitworth
Elizabeth Whitworth
Edward Whitworth
Sarah Whitworth
Ann Whitworth

This Ann is yours.

If you follow John & Elizabeth's son John > William > John > William > Rose Ellen > Glenn Reed then you'll get to me, Nigel.
