welcome to rootschat
firstly I will give Chios>
http://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Greecealso contact Library of Chios.... by snail mail giving as much detail that you have already...
there are numerous links on the following website>
http://www.genealogylinks.net/europe/greece/Chios , because it was affected by WW2 some orthodoxy records may not exist, however, sometimes if folk were refugees there is or may be Red Cross files .... or your family may have been "proper" migrants moving out of war periods....
the family search site is not comphrehensive in its collective for Greece with only main centres and main churches listed and even then they have very limited scopes.......
...NEXT>
Egypt is extremely difficult to research and you may have to contact the government there in the "Civil Registry" office...... and that depends on the period you wish to research...... the more current ... the better the records. Again I suggest>
https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Egypt but the page only gives main civil registry areas....
I would depending on what country you reside go to the Embassy or write a snail mail , indicating historical research { non inclusive of actual personal family details} and see what resources are open to you..... Not much microfilming was done for the country excepting British consulate indexes which are limited online to findmypast..... best to find British Nationals indexes at the WRO offices accross UK or at larger genealogical centres where they are available on microfische.
Check Cindys list to see if I have missed anything.....
respectively please put up a post of indicators regarding to what country you now reside and without mentioning living souls some details of what you do have,. and I will get back to you if I can
fastfusion
PS reply to yourself 3 times somehow and u then can use personal messaging on rootschat
as some details are sent through messaging... good luck
