« on: Monday 23 June 14 02:55 BST (UK) »
Hello all, would love to find any records of the late Private Joseph King of the HM 86th Regiment that served in Madras India his death was in 1851. He was pensioned in 1824 and lived in Madras with a Indian women named Hannamal and children. Joseph adopted a Mary Rushton (father James of the 12th Regiment) he also was living with Hannamal before him and had another daughter named Elizabeth. ;) before his death in September 1815. Anyone familiar with this family I would love to receive and information about them. :-[

Janet :)

did he die 1851 or 1815. your dates are confused. if pensioned 1824 must be 1851??

have you accessed FIBIS:

http://search.fibis.org/frontis/bin/simplesearchsummarycat.php

there are some records that might be your Joseph. this one would have fitted nicely for 1815 death:
First Names   Joseph
Surname   King
Rank   Soldier
Presidency   Madras
Age   18
Home County   Northants
Home Country   England
Occupation   Bricklayer
Ship and Year   Onslow 1753
IOR Reference   L/MIL/9/85
LDS Film Reference   1835456

Cooks -(Clackmannanshire); Erskines - (fife); Youngs - (Dunfermline); Charltons - (Tyneside ); Skillings - (N.Norfolk); Legg - (N.Yorks, Tyneside) ; Carter - (Durham); Miller -(suffolk); Pattinson -(Lincs)
