Oh dear ... it has taken me a while to get back to this, hasn't it.

Birth certificate confirms parents as Charles Leonard LOCKYER (b.1881) and Hilda Chambers CURWOOD (b. 1885)

Hilda was d/o Henry William CURWOOD and Emely Alford CHAMBERS - the family were from Jersey.

I am still little advanced with the LOCKYER side of things though and would appreciate anything anyone can offer to take me back beyond Charles Leonard LOCKYER (1881-1968) and/or provide some detail about his life/origins.

Thanks as always

Here's the Lockyer family in the 1911 census-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Cork/Cork_No__3_Urban/Mount_Vernon_Terrace/386436

As mentioned last year- daughter Hilda's Scottish birth certificate should give date and place of parents' marriage (c1906 but in view of the father's military background this could have taken place anywhere so getting this certificate would greatly simplify your search).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I think my Henry Lockyer was born around 1870 and died in 1938. He married Linda Lane Youdell around 1899. They had at least 8 children.

He would have been about 41 in 1911.

He was in the military when he married Linda Lane Youdell. He served in Africa in 1901.

Harry Lockyer was  my wife's uncle. I am/was researching Harry's family on behalf of his children.

Do you have a family connection?

I think my Henry A. Lockyer was born around 1870 and died in Sept. 1938 in Bristol, England.
He married Linda Lane Youdell around 1898. They had about 7-8 children.

He served in Africa in 1901.

He would have been about 41 in 1911.

He was in the military when he married Linda (sometimes spelled Lynda) Lane Youdell.

I am a blood relative of Lynda Lane Youdell Lockyer.
I am related to a Henry A Lockyer by marriage.

Unfortunately I'm trying to find out more about HC Lockyer as well, but have very little. I know he served with the RN on the corvettes in the North Sea during WW2 before coming to Aus, but can't find his service record from the RN at all - will be applying for them myself soon.

As for Charles, while I know he was serving with the British Army before WW1, I can't find any of his service records either. I understand he was shot on three separate occasions during the war, before what appears to be retirement to Jersey, but that's it.

If you go to this link ....

http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/NameSearch/Interface/ItemDetail.aspx?Barcode=5228979

and select "view digital copy" you can access his WW2 records.

If the link fails let me know and I'll walk you through the long way to the record.

I wonder if your Henry Charles and my Henry A Lockyer are related?
I will try to look at the military records, later.
He sounds like an amazing person.
Have you ever tried familysearch.org?  It is FREE.

It is interesting that your Henry retired to Jersey.
Is this the island of Jersey?
Lynda Lane, my great grandmother who married a Henry A Lockyer, was born on the island of Jersey.
